We produce both eBooks and eMags for publishers. The following is a brief explanation of the differences between these two types of e-publications.
eBooks are standalone collections of related content. Generally, eBooks are paid for by at least one advertiser or sponsor. In return, the advertiser gains the opportunity to present a message to the eBook's readers and may also receive contact information submitted by the readers of the eBook. The important thing for eBooks is the number of leads that the publisher can give to the sponsor.
An eMag is a digital magazine that's published on a schedule. For eMags, the most important thing is that the advertisers get in-depth stats about the types of people who are viewing the eMag and how many of them viewed and clicked on their ads. Advertisers in an eMag don't generally receive information about individual people. However, publishers may rent out their subscriber lists from time to time to advertisers for direct marketing purposes.
How eBooks Work:
- Advertisers sponsor the eBook.
- Publisher promotes eBook to their subscribers and Web site visitors.
- Users must register to download. The registration form asks users to opt-in to be contacted by the eBook's sponsor.
- Sponsor receives sales leads as well as advertising in the eBook.
The Development Process:
- Publisher chooses a topic and content.
- text
- photos
- graphics
- music, video, animation, etc.
- Advertisers supply registration questions. (Optional)
- Name, phone, email
- Are you planning to purchase a guitar within the next 12 months?
- eBookHost produces a first draft and sends publisher a link for review. Publisher has final say on look and feel.
- eBook is revised until publisher (and possibly advertiser) approves.
- eBookHost sets up hosting and works with publisher to promote eBook. (Optional)
- Publisher can log in to secure admin site to view stats and download registrant list. (Optional)
- The entire process can take anywhere from a little over 1 week to 1 month, depending on size of book and waiting time for materials.

How eMags Work:
The production process for eMags is very similar to the process for producing a paper publication. The main differences are:
- Cost: eMags are far less expensive to produce than paper magazines
- Effort: We can handle as much or as little of the development and delivery process as you like
